GOD OUR
FATHER
IS
MERCIFUL
"All things have been delivered to me by
my Father, and no one knows who the
Son is except the Father, or who the Father
is except the Son and any one to whom
the Son chooses to reveal him,"

FOURTH MONTH OF PRAYERS
God employs the ultimate standards of what is just, moral, right
and good.

God never acts out of harmony with His perfect character.

God will judge us with justice and fairness.

God shall bring an end to the transgressions of the wicked.
LET US THEN CAST OFF THE WORKS
OF DARKNESS
Romans 13:12b

On December 2, 1980, while administering to the poor and oppressed people of El Salvador, Maryknoll Sisters
Ita Ford and Maura Clarke, Ursuline Sister Dorothy Kazel and Lay missioner Jean Donovan were martyred in
El Salvador by government soldiers.  The four murdered women were North American churchwomen.

Father in Heaven, Who has a plan for our lives, when the Blessed Virgin Mary gave her consent
to the Angel Gabriel, she caused us to receive our divine Redeemer Jesus; help me to be in
accord with Your will for me.
LET LOVE BE GENUINE;
                         Romans 12:9a

Heavenly Father, Who has created me and breathed into me the Spirit of life,
help me to live Your Word.

Magnificent  Father, so dear to my heart, acquaint us with Your love through our commitment
and devotion to Jesus, our Shepherd, and through our dedication to the Holy Spirit, our Enabler.

St. Gregory Nazianzen  speaks of the Christian as an "instrument played by
the Holy Spirit."  The aim of  asceticism is to keep this instrument in tune.
What we must do is bring the strings of the delicate instrument, which is our
whole being, to the exact pitch which the Holy Spirit desires of us, in order
that the Spirit may produce in us the exquisite melody of divine love, that we
were created to sing before the face of our heavenly Father.
Thomas Merton 20th century

Father of abounding goodness, the Great I Am, I am sorry that I never accomplished
true sanctity of soul or the good works that would deeply please You.

Tears poured down his face: he was not at the moment afraid of damnation--
even the fear of pain was in the background.  He felt only an immense
disappointment because he had to go to God empty-handed, with nothing done at all.
It seemed to him at that moment that it would have been quite easy to have been a saint.
It would only have needed a little self-restraint and a little courage.
He felt like someone who has missed happiness by seconds at an appointed place.
He knew now that at the end there was only one thing that counted--to be a saint.
